About
It's time to move onto one of the trickier but most commonly used daily works skills for a dog and handler - moving and placing stock while the dog is off balance. This is tricky because so far, we've been teaching our dog to balance to us and now we're asking it to do the opposite. To work on this stage, it's essential you've worked on the four activities in the Side Commands video. Key Outcomes By the end of this session, you'll be able to: ✅ Understand how to use Off Balance to place stock exactly where you want them to go. ✅ Recognise and correct your dog's tendency to return to the balance point. ✅ Confidently direct your dog between yourself and the stock when required. ✅ Progress from round yard training into larger, practical working environments. ✅ Reduce reliance on body language and develop stronger verbal and whistle responses. ✅ Build a more precise, independent and purposeful working dog. You'll begin transitioning your dog from simply balancing stock to accurately placing stock wherever the job requires.
